Potentially useful book ruined by formatting.

There is a lot of potentially useful information in this book but it is almost impossible to extract any of it, even if you read French: The formatting is simply awful.
First, the English translation is missing in parts.
Second, and even worse, it is slathered amongst the French in such a mess of seemingly random bursts that it is often difficult or impossible to tell (because it includes notation) whether you are looking at an area of translation or more of the French original.
Third, even if you can read French (as I can, with the occasional trip to the dictionary) the book is very difficult to read. Once you strip out all of what you hope is just translation you are left with a formatting mess of random superscripts and subscripts, arbitrary carriage returns and scattershot bold face. If it were a novel you could probably plow through this, but since it contains large amounts of formalized notation (which is after all the heart of its purpose) there are large swaths that are essentially impossible to translate from French into Guitar-Music-Theory.
I really wanted the information that seems to be hiding in this mess, but I doubt I'll ever extract more than a small percentage of it. Until the authors totally revise the presentation I have to give it one star rather than four or five. And I have to advise others to stay away unless they are willing to reanalyze the author's analysis line by line.

Don't Bother

This book sounds like it should be a fantastic resource for the gypsy jazz fan who wants to learn more about how to play this great music. Unfortunately the Kindle version (at least that's all I can comment on here) is basically unreadable. It includes both the original French and translated English in a totally jumbled way that means it simply can not be understood. Do not waste your money - there are plenty of better books that actually makes sense.
